Instability of an autochemotactic active suspension

چکیده

This study examines the effects of an evolving attractant field, due to phenomenon autochemotaxis, on stability a dilute suspension active swimmers in channel. Motile typically exhibit orientation bias that is dependent upon local gradient field. By modelling autochemotactic behaviour through non-dimensional number $Da$ characterizes rate secretion, we are able show stress-driven instability predicted by Kasyap & Koch ( Phys. Rev. Lett. , vol. 108, issue 3, 2012, p. 038101) for pushers stabilized with increasing . We also results flow pullers. Furthermore, analytically and numerically absence convective transport attractant, pullers undergo simultaneous switch stabilities at critical

Reconfigurable assemblies of active, autochemotactic gels.

Using computational modeling, we show that self-oscillating Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) gels can both emit and sense a chemical signal and thus drive neighboring gel pieces to spontaneously self-aggregate, so that the system exhibits autochemotaxis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the closest system to the ultimate self-recombining material, which can be divided into separated parts and the...

Control Strategy for an Active Suspension System

The paper presents the virtual model of the active suspension system used for improving the dynamic behavior of a motor vehicle. The study is focused on the design of the control system, the purpose being to minimize the effect of the road disturbances (which are considered as perturbations for the control system). The analysis is performed for a quarter-car model, which corresponds to the susp...

Optimal Selection of Active Suspension Parameters Using Artificial Intelligence

In this paper, multi-objective uniform-diversity genetic algorithm (MUGA) with a diversity preserving mechanism called the ε-elimination algorithm is used for Pareto optimization of 5-degree of freedom vehicle vibration model considering the five conflicting functions simultaneously. The important conflicting objective functions that have been considered in this work are, namely, vertical accel...

Collective motion in an active suspension of Escherichia coli bacteria

We investigate experimentally the emergence of collective motion in the bulk of an active suspension of Escherichia coli bacteria. When increasing the concentration from a dilute to a semi-dilute regime, we observe a continuous crossover from a dynamical cluster regime to a regime of ‘bio-turbulence’ convection patterns. We measure a length scale characterizing the collective motion as a functi...
